These paintings started in late October 2015 and are an ongoing project. They are acrylic paint on stretched canvas. I have always painted, but not like this. By now, this series contains about 180 images.

They started as a reflection on my grief after my husband's death, a memorial project. For about a year, every day I painted from photos he or I had taken during our life together. Eventually, I started taking new photos and working from them. This work helped me to transition emotionally and move into my life without Frank.

It started here. As the series grew, I thought metaphorically about positive and negative spaces, overlapping forms, similarities to other natural forms, light and shadow, contrast and harmony, the infinitesimal and the infinite.

Second Tree. I have always loved looking up through trees. We used to walk through natural settings, always finding hidden images visible only to those who see things that aren’t there.

Third Tree. The miles of branches in these pictures contain many of such invisible images that we saw together.
